White Tea from Kunlushan Mountain
The Huang Jia Imperial Tea Garden and the surrounding tea plantation areas on Kunlushan Mountain have a unique terroir that produces tea of the highest quality. For several centuries, it has been honored to be drunk by the Emperor of the Celestial Empire.
This tea is made from spring tea leaves harvested from straight-stemmed tea trees (Qiao Mu in Chinese) that are up to 60 years old. To create a richer and more balanced flavor, we made a blend of the same white tea, but made by different technologies. The first is the traditional white tea processing, which gives depth of flavor and fruity tones. The leaf is allowed to slightly ferment during the drying process, this process is controlled by collecting the tea leaf in small slides, then spreading and repeating this action several times. And in the second case - it is white tea, dried in the sun, this treatment gives the tea more fresh, herbaceous notes.
In the times of the Chinese Empire, Kunlushan tea had a very high value and at the beginning of the XXI century it returned to its former glory. Since the imperial tea garden is extremely small and today demand exceeds supply, this tea is made only for a narrow circle of connoisseurs and trusted persons.
Encountering this tea evokes many emotions. The light, inviting aroma has sweet and herbal notes, bright hints of exotic fruits. Rich, dense, balanced flavor. It plays herbal notes, passing into the sweetness of raisins, in the sip refreshingly fruity moments.
